Using saved links to articles & books when not on campus
Answer
UMSL uses a proxy for most off-campus access. This directs web traffic through UMSL so publishers know that you're a student or faculty/staff member here.
Most links will need to pass through UMSL's proxy. You should see "ezproxy.umsl.edu" in some form in the article's URL. Many of our resources are configured to offer this form when exporting or copying a link to an article using the provider. Look for an option for a "Permalink" or email a link to yourself.
Another option for links which do not have "ezproxy,umsl.edu" or something similar already in them, is to place the following before the URL:
http://ezproxy.umsl.edu/login?url=
Example:
https://www.fantasticjournal.com/justthearticleineed.html
would become
http://ezproxy.umsl.edu/login?url=https://www.fantasticjournal.com/justthearticleineed.html
If you are having trouble with Zotero and the proxy, see the link below. Other reference/citation managers will have similar settings.
