Can I borrow books or get articles from the University of Missouri Libraries, MOBIUS & other libraries?

Books and some audio/visual items:

University of Missouri Libraries and MOBIUS items can be requested directly from the University of Missouri Libraries/MOBIUS catalogs.  They are sent to UMSL via a courier system.

  • Items can be picked up at the Public Service Desk.  They can also be picked up at another MOBIUS library if one is more conveniently located.
  • You will be notified about the arrival or cancellation of a request by campus e-mail.
  • University of Missouri Libraries/MOBIUS items can be returned at UMSL or any MOBIUS library.
  • You can personally go to a University of Missouri Libraries or MOBIUS library to use or check out materials.
    • All University of Missouri Libraries  (MU, UMKC, or MST) will require your current UMSL ID.
    • MOBIUS libraries require both your current UMSL ID and your student or employee number.

Articles, Book Chapters, and Books not available in University of Missouri Libraries/MOBIUS

Interlibrary Loan items go through a separate system and require additional processing before they are shipped.  It is is designed for requesting articles, books, and other materials that are not available through  University of Missouri Libraries/MOBIUS.

  • Articles and book chapters are usually sent to us electronically
  • Books and other items come through the U.S. Postal Service and other carriers.
